UNPOL visits SSNPS ‘777’ call center to asses capability
22 July 2016 - In the aftermath of the recent clashes in Juba, UNPOL officers visited the SSNPS (South Sudan National Police Service) Emergency Call Centre based at Buluk Operations Headquarters to assess the operational capability of the unit.

UNMISS Police Commissioner addresses town hall meeting
The UNMISS Police Commissioner, Mr. Bruce Munyambo, held a Town Hall meeting with Juba-based UNPOL personnel in which he expressed his deepest appreciation for their tireless efforts under the  challenging and life-threatening conditions in which they were protecting the South Sudanese affected by the recent fighting in the capital.

Unity in the face of adversity - an account of crisis days at UN House in Juba
13 July 2016 - “We need water and food, why don’t you give it to us?”, an angry and visibly shocked young man asks me as he and maybe a hundred other people hunker down behind stone walls outside an office complex at UN House in Juba. His query is echoed by many, and I can’t help wondering what would constitute a sensible answer.

South Sudan government assessment team visits Wau
An investigative assessment team, led by Dr. Riak Gal Kok, Minister of Health of South Sudan, was dispatched to Wau by the Republican Order to assess the situation on the ground in the aftermath of deadly clashes during the last week of June.

Naagori community in Yambio welcomes UNMISS quick impact project
The United Nations Mission in South Sudan handed over a four-classroom block constructed at Sunrise Nursery and Primary School to the community of Naagori in Yambio County. The facility, worth fifty thousand US dollars, is a QIP, funded by the UNMISS, and implemented by the mission’s Relief, Reintegration and Protection section. Sunrise Nursery and Primary School started in 2012 under trees and open shelters and has approximately one hundred pupils.
