11 October 2012 - Children singing South Sudanese national anthem today at Confident Children out of Conflict Orphanage on International Day of the Girl Child in Juba.
Preparing for the planned disarmament campaign in Warrap State, South Sudan, UNMISS facilitated a dialogue forum for military and civilian community members that focused on the protection of children in conflict settings.
To improve safety and help expand South Sudan's international airport, UNMISS rehabilitated and returned land occupied by the peacekeeping mission to civil aviation authorities in a mammoth, costly effort that required moving 300 shipping containers, relocating accommodation units, levelling and compacting land, building culverts and clearing drainage systems.
