Notre mission
The United Nations Mission works with the people of South Sudan to protect civilians and build durable peace.
Around 12,000 peacekeepers serve with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan, carrying out many duties under the mandate determined by the United Nations Security Council, including protection of civilians, creating the conditions conducive to the delivery of humanitarian assistance, supporting the implementation of the revitalized agreement and peace process, and monitoring, investigating, and reporting on alleged violations and abuses of international humanitarian law and human rights.
