A ‘Sports for Peace and Unity’ football competition kicked off in the Malakal PoC site under the theme; “Together for a peaceful nation.”  The activity is part of an UNMISS quick impact project to harmonize and stabilize the security situation.  The initiative is funded by the UNMISS RRP section

First Vice President Riek Machar on Sunday pledged a commitment by the new government to combat sexual violence and other forms of abuses committed by organs belonging to the security sector.

To increase the collaboration between different branches of the government protecting civilians, the UNMISS facilitated a two-day workshop in Rumbek town.

Participants were drawn from the three arms of the government, as well as youth, women and civil society organizations.
