The International Day of Peace was observed in the Bentiu PoC site with a cultural show and games between teams drawn from POC community and peacekeepers.

A drama featuring on the theme of peace and reconciliation was performed by Bentiu Star Drama Group which was attended by thousands of people. 

The POC cultural group and UNMISS peacekeepers also performed traditional dances and entertained the gathering.

A remarkable volley ball game was played between female teams from peacekeepers and POC.  The female team from POC finished with upper hand. The football match between UNMISS and POC teams was also planned but cancelled due to heavy rain.  

Awards was given the following day to the POC female volleyball team and dram and cultural groups by UNMISS  Bentiu Head of Field Office, Hiroko Hirahara and Chairperson of Bentiu POC Community High Committee representatives. 

Speaking during the awarding event, Ms. Hiroko urged the community members to abide by the camp rules and continue work in collaboration with UNMISS to ensure peace and security in the POC site.
