The Catholic Diocese of Rumbek with support from UNMISS Civil Affairs Division (CAD) has held a three-day training for thirty teachers in Yirol town. Participants were briefed on peer counseling and on how to manage conflicts, traumas and cases of indiscipline at school.

In his closing remarks, the facilitator Mr. Peter Ujulo urged teachers to translate the knowledge they had gained into concrete actions that will benefit everyone at their respective schools.

“You as teachers are the banks of knowledge, and as such, you are now equipped and tasked to use what you have learnt for the last three days in a way that will benefit your schools. By the word school, I am referring to your fellow teachers, administrators and students,” Ujulo explained.

Civil Affairs Officer Mr. Max Katta expressed that UNMISS is always ready to support peace building activities.

“We are impressed by the level of mobilization and collaboration and look forward to working with you again.”
