The UNMISS Force Commander, Lt. Gen. Johnson Ondieki, hailed the Ethiopian contingent’s continued contribution to Peacekeeping Operations in South Sudan during a medal ceremony in Bor.

“Since your deployment to South Sudan, you have demonstrated unwavering commitment in implementing the mission mandate to protect civilians under threat of violence; this is an essential and complex task, one which you have discharged honorably”. Lt. Gen. Ondieki told Ethiopian Peacekeepers.

Gen. Johnson added that the Ethiopian contingent in Jonglei is also providing force protection for the mission and UN agencies.

Also speaking during the ceremony, Jonglei Deputy Governor, Gen. Peter Wal, thanked the United Nations for supporting South Sudan in both peacekeeping and state building, since 2005.
