    26 Sep 2017 - The international community must show “unity of purpose” by supporting a peace process capable of implementation in South Sudan in the face of a “narrow” space for compromise, according to the UN’s most senior representative in the country. David Shearer, who is the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for South Sudan, was addressing a meeting of the UN Security Council in New York on Tuesday.

  • 20 Sep 2017 - Today we come together to observe the International Day of Peace. The theme is: “Together for Peace, Respect, Safety and Dignity for All”. Here in South Sudan people face enormous challenges. Half the population is suffering from severe hunger and is in need of food aid. One-third of the population have fled their homes or have crossed the border into neighboring countries as refugees.  One million South Sudanese, for example, now live in refugee camps in Uganda.
