23 Mar 2017 - (Scroll down for audio version) Up to 75 per cent of people living in Imatong state may have left their homes because they cannot get enough to eat, the head of the UN peacekeeping mission in South Sudan, David Shearer, has been told by community leaders in Torit. Mr Shearer was visiting Torit on Thursday, his first mission to the capital of the state. -

UNMISS Peacekeepers from Bangladesh, China and Nepal were involved in the rescue operation following a plane crash in Wau on 20 March.
20 Mar 2017 - (Scroll down for audio version) The head of the UN peacekeeping mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), David Shearer, has praised efforts made by peacekeepers involved in a rescue operation following the crash-landing of a commercial plane at Wau airport in the north-west of the country. The plane, an Antonov 26 belonging to South Sudan Supreme Company, was flying from the capital, Juba, to Wau. -

23 Feb 2017 - (Scroll down for audio version) Improved security is essential to reinvigorating what has been called the bread basket of South Sudan, the head of the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), David Shearer, has said. Mr. Shearer was making his first field trip to the town of Yambio in the Western Equatoria region of South Sudan, an agricultural region which has typically provided a wide range of food products for the rest of the country. -
