Health support by UNMISS peacekeepers to Wau Central Prison inmates brings hope

WESTERN BAHR EL GHAZAL - For detainees at Wau Central Prison, access to basic healthcare is not only about treating illness; it is about preserving dignity, upholding rights and helping inmates prepare for life after serving their sentences. Our Mission

The United Nations Mission works with the people of South Sudan to protect civilians and build durable peace.

Around 12,000 peacekeepers serve with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan, carrying out many duties under the mandate determined by the United Nations Security Council, including protection of civilians, creating the conditions conducive to the delivery of humanitarian assistance, supporting the implementation of the revitalized agreement and peace process, and monitoring, investigating, and reporting on alleged violations and abuses of international humanitarian law and human rights.
