UPPER NILE – Hope for lasting peace is slowly blossoming in conflict-ridden Upper Nile state in South Sudan, thanks to joint efforts by local communities, state authorities and the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).
UNMISS peacekeepers from Ethiopia and India provided protective escorts to large humanitarian convoys from the World Food Programme, enabling displaced communities in Pibor, Akobo, Lankien and Yuai, to receive life-saving aid. In April 2023, UNMISS peacekeepers have ensured that 150 trucks of humanitarian supplies reach their destinations safely across greater Jonglei, one of South Sudan's most food-insecure states where aid workers have been frequently attacked.

WESTERN EQUATORIA - As peace slowly returns to Tambura, Western Equatoria, after protracted conflict, the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) is making all efforts to consolidate the fragile stability here.

RUWENG – Every year, between January to April, cattle herders from South Sudan’s northern neighbour, Sudan, cross the border to ensure their animals have fresh grass to graze on.
