Juba, 25 July 2013 - The UN World Food Programme (WFP) is distributing food to thousands of people who have fled violence in Pibor County, Jonglei State, in an ongoing humanitarian exercise that began on 24 July, with support from UNMISS.

World Humanitarian Day falls on 19 August, the day in 2003 when 22 aid workers were killed in a bombing at UN headquarters in Baghdad. It's a day to commemorate all people who have lost their lives in humanitarian service and to celebrate the spirit of people helping people.

15 August 2013 - To strengthen human rights in traditional courts, UNMISS held a one-day workshop today for 25 Shilluk chiefs in Malakal, Upper Nile State. The chiefs regularly try cases, including those with criminal charges, in customary courts.
