A run-down police post in the troubled region of Boma is to be renovated by the United Nations Mission in South Sudan to help strengthen law and order and provide a secure environment for the local community.

Thousands of families already struggling because of ongoing violence in Pibor are in desperate need of further assistance after severe flooding washed away houses, livestock, and farmland in the Jonglei region of South Sudan.

Talks are continuing on the disarmament and reintegration of former opposition fighters, including child soldiers, back into their communities in the Western Equatorian region of South Sudan.
