Early warnings of a potential revenge attack by the Rup community on their Pakam neighbours in the Greater Lakes area prompted the United Nations Mission in South Sudan to organize a peace sensitization forum to prevent such developments from materializing.

Local communities living along the Langeach River in Gogrial County have reason for relief. A total of 77 explosive remnants of war in their neck of the wood have been safely destroyed by the United Nations Mine Action Service, UNMAS.

About 100 uniformed women serving in South Sudan’s security sector are working towards combatting gender-based violence as well as securing a leading role in the country’s peace process.
