UNITY – During her two-day field visit to Bentiu, Christine Fossen, Police Commissioner of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan, appealed to the people and the government of the country to promote accountability and rule of law.
WESTERN EQUATORIA – Christine Joseph Ngbazande, is a mother of three, an activist and leads a women’s development organization in Yambio, the capital of Western Equatoria state in South Sudan.
LAKES – Sophia Piath Martin is a 27-year-old woman from South Sudan with an unusual profession—she is a plumber with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).

UPPER NILE - On Saturday mornings, one particular place in Upper Nile State’s capital Malakal draws a motley crew.
UNPOL officers serving with UNMISS, in partnership with administrators from Western Equatoria's prisons system, held a two-day workshop for prison officials on upholding human rights of inmates as well as gender sensitivity. The main aim: To ensure offenders can serve out their sentences in a humane environment as the first step towards their eventual reintegration as productive members of society.
