It’s been a busy month for Nicholas Haysom, the UN Secretary-General’s newly appointed Special Representative for South Sudan and Head of UNMISS.
A day-long forum, organized by the UNMISS Gender Unit in partnership with the state ministry for Gender, Children and Social Welfare in Yambio, Western Equatoria, drew some 50 participants from civil society organisations, faith-based groups, local politicians and community members. As the COVID-19 vaccination programme starts rolling out across South Sudan, UNMISS is continuing its support for the national-led pandemic response.
A three-day advocacy skills training facilitated by the UNMISS Gender Unit drew participants from civil society, local women’s associations and other women’s groups in Central Equatoria, South Sudan. Similar workshops are planned for all 10 states in the world's youngest nation.
