17 February 2014 - Added to humanitarian support, South Sudanese resilience would help take them through the current crisis, UNICEF Director for Emergency Operations Ted Chaiban said during a visit to an UNMISS protection site in Juba today.

A cargo plane chartered by the International Organization for Migration carrying items for displaced people crashed in the Unity State capital Bentiu on 17 February, killing a crew member. UNMISS peacekeepers rescued three others and they were evacuated to Nairobi, Kenya.
