WAU/JUBA – A General Court Martial, supported by the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces, concluded in Wau, Western Bahr el Ghazal, on 5 July. It was preceded by two investigation missions to Wau and Jur River counties where 34 pending cases were reviewed.

In Gogrial West County, many people are not aware of their entitlements to most basic human rights. To change this and train crucial stakeholders how to protect these rights, UNMISS facilitated a workshop with 50 participants, including representatives from key ministries, independent commissions, community leaders, and individuals directly affected by these threats.

After 13 years of protecting civilians in Bentiu, the relationship between Mongolian peacekeepers and local communities is so strong that the children can even speak the Mongolian language.
