Quarterly Brief on Violence Affecting Civilians - April - June 2020
Between April and June 2020, the overall number of civilians affected by violence decreased by 8 per cent, despite an increase by more than half (52 per cent) in the number of incidents, as compared with the first quarter of the year. However, COVID-19-related restrictions on movement negatively impacted UNMISS' capacity to thoroughly document all incidents.

Prison officers serving in Aweil will better respect and protect the rights and wellbeing of inmates in jails across the state after participating in an UNMISS-hosted training workshop.
UNMISS peacekeepers united with local authorities, lecturers and students to clean-up the university in Wau, promoting a cleaner and safer environment for learning as well as building community togetherness and pride.
UNMISS peacekeepers and community members in Yambio launched a collective clean-up campaign, removing a mountain of garbage from the central city, that was not only threatening the environment but also the health and wellbeing of residents.
