Akobo community learns about UNMISS

7 February 2013 - To increase awareness of UNMISS' role among residents of Akobo County in Jonglei State, the mission's Public Information Office conducted a one-day workshop there today.

The organizers explained the role of UNMISS in protecting civilians and consolidating peace and stability in South Sudan to the 74 participants, who included government officials, traditional chiefs, women leaders and representatives of trade union as well as youth groups.

Similar outreach events were previously held in Jonglei State's Bor and Pibor counties.
