27 Jan 2018 - The United Nations Mission in South Sudan has today conducted a search operation within the Protection of Civilians site next to its base in Juba to determine whether individuals allegedly involved in the abduction and killing of three people in the capital last week were located within the camp.
A number of suspects were apprehended and handed over to the South Sudan National Police Service to investigate further.

The United Nations Mission in South Sudan welcomes the signing of a cessation of hostilities agreement by parties attending the High Level Revitalization Forum in Addis Ababa.
20 Dec 2017 - The first Protection of Civilians site has been successfully closed in South Sudan after internally displaced families expressed the desire and confidence to return to their former homes.
The site, next to the United Nations base in Melut in the Upper Nile region, had provided sanctuary to hundreds of families since the civil war broke out four years ago.
16 Dec 2017 - The Secretary-General urges South Sudanese Parties to engage in good faith in the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) -led High-Level Revitalization Forum set to begin in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, next week. The Secretary-General is convinced that with full backing by the region and the wider international community, this Forum provides a unique opportunity to bring all the parties to the conflict and other stakeholders to the negotiation table.
12 Dec 2017 - The Nepalese peacekeeping contingent deployed in Rumbek, Western Lakes, has been awarded the United Nations peacekeeping medal in recognition of their outstanding work in South Sudan.
The medals were awarded by the UNMISS Force Commander, Lt. General Frank Mushyo Kamanzi, and other senior UNMISS officials.
