  • 09 Dec 2014 - Juba, 9 December, 2014 - The United Nations Mission in South Sudan destroyed 25 firearms and hundreds of knives, machetes, and similar weapons confiscated from internally displaced persons (IDPs) living in its protection-of-civilians sites in Juba at a public event held today in its Tomping compound.

Members of the Government of South Sudan have also brought these reports to the attention of the leadership of UNMISS and voiced their concern.
  • 27 Nov 2014 - Juba, 27 November 2014 - The UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) wishes to correct erroneous media reports claiming that the Mission has sought the consent of the Government of the Republic of South Sudan (GRSS) to use the Mission’s aircraft to transport delegates of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement/Army In Opposition (SPLM/A-IO) from locations inside the country to a consultative conference in Pagak, South Sudan.

  • 30 Sep 2014 - Juba, 30 September 2014 - The attention of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) has been drawn to allegations that appeared yesterday, in an article that was posted on the pro-armed opposition website nyamile.com, accusing the UNMISS peacekeepers of installing barbed wire fencing around SPLA garrisons in various locations in South Sudan to prevent SPLA troops from abandoning their positions in the event of future attacks.
  • 09 Sep 2014 - Juba, 9 September 2014 - For the past two weeks, UNMISS has been conducting preliminary investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash of a United Nations Mi-8 helicopter Bentiu, the capital of South Sudan’s Unity State, on 26 August, which killed three Russian crewmen and injured a fourth.
