22 Feb 2014 - Juba, 21 February 2014 - The United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) presented its interim report on human rights abuses committed during the first six weeks of the crisis in South Sudan to the UN Security Council today.

18 Feb 2014 - Juba, 18 February 2014 - From this morning, there has been heavy fighting in and around Malakal between the SPLA in Opposition and the Government forces. Simultaneously, inter-communal clashes flared up within the Protection of Civilians site within the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) compound, which also came under cross fire. The latter situation was contained by UNMISS troops and Formed Police Units, but unfortunately, casualties were later sustained.

11 Feb 2014 - Juba, 11 February 2014 - The United Nations Mission in South Sudan has taken a series of steps to strengthen security in relation to Protection of Civilians sites within the Mission's compounds. Security problems have continued to cause serious concern at the gates and in the vicinity of the UNMISS compounds.

05 Feb 2014 - Juba, 5 February 2014 - A contingent of 266 additional peacekeepers arrived in South Sudan on 4 February. The troops include 10 women, two of whom are doctors, and three nurses. They will be deployed in Juba at the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) protection sites. The arrival of additional battalions is expected in the coming weeks.

12 Jan 2014 - Juba, 12 January 2014 - The United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) notes media reports (New York Times, 9 January) estimating that up to 10,000 people may have been killed since the conflict in South Sudan started on 15 December 2013.

09 Jan 2014 - Juba, 9 January 2014 - The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General (SRSG) and Head of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) traveled yesterday to Malakal, the capital of Upper Nile, where she met with the Governor of the State and UNMISS staff.
