CAD and CPIO conduct workshop In Wau town on Conflict management and mission mandate

Civil Affairs Division Head in Western Bahr el Ghazal says UNMISS is promoting local solutions to resolve conflicts happening in local communities.

Opening a two day workshop organized for Municipality quarters chiefs, Mr. Mustapha Tejan-Kella, the head of the event, said, the UNMISS is working hard to build the capacity of local leaders to manage conflicts in a peaceful manner.

“Even before this workshop, you have been resolving conflicts,” said Tejan-Kella. “So you have lots of experience to share us here.”

“As members of the community and as chief, you have the authority to control such things not to happen,” he said.

Mr. Mustapha emphasized the need for creating strong network and communication among the quarter chiefs of the various communities represented in the workshop so that they can work in harmony.

“One of the goals of this workshop is to form a network among all the quarter chiefs for the future,” he added.

A similar workshop has been conducted in another location in Wau town that brought some 50 youths.

The UNMISS Public Information Office took this opportunity to promote the current mission mandate during these two separate workshops.
