In a bid to mitigate communal conflicts in the state, the UNDP in partnership with the UNMISS conducted a two day conflict prevention workshop with over 30 participants in Cueibet County of Gok State.

Speaking on behalf of the participants, Mr. Daniel Reec Makom, said that CSO’s are the pillars of democratic governance.

“Civil Society Organizations are the foundation upon which democracy stands. We are obliged to stay on a maximum alert to avert any danger that comes to our people and spot it out without fear or favour,” Reec stressed.

Meanwhile on behalf of the government, the State Minister of Physical Infrastructure, Mr. Mariik Makur, cautioned participants to be sincere in their work of advocacy.

“As members of the Civil Society Organizations, I would like to advise you to be genuine and sincere in your advocacy role. You should advocate for a rightful cause, at a right time and in a right approach in order to change lives,” Makur said.

Participants thanked UNDP and UNMISS for their support via training.
