Human Rights and SGBV workshop in Yambio

Participants drawn from the military, police, civil society group, and local village chiefs acquired new skills in a three day sensitization workshop on human rights and sexual & gender based violence. The workshop was organized by the UNMISS UNPOL in western Equatoria, Yambio.

 

Speaking to the participants during closing ceremony of the workshop, the Head of Field Office for UNMISS in Western Equatoria, Koliab Nahataba, urged the participants to utilize the skills they have acquired during in order to make a positive change in the society, and to pass along the education to their families and friends, and community members.

 

Also making remarks, Fred Bugere, acting head of the UNPOL in Western Equatoria, said that the purpose of the three day sensitization workshop was to equip key community representatives with basic knowledge on human rights issues, the protection of civilians, as well as gender and sexually based violence and abuse.

 

A certificate of participation was issued to all that completed the sensitization training.
