WESTERN EQUATORIA- In recent times, the citizens of the green fertile land of greater Tambura have faced approximately six months of armed conflicts, killing many and displacing some 80,000 persons.
In a historic medal parade, nine police officers from Liberia - the country's first-ever deployment to UN Peacekeeping - received the prestigious UN medal for their efforts to build an enduring peace in the world's youngest nation, South Sudan.

Juba, 8 July 2022: As South Sudan commemorates 11 years of independence, the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) reiterates its commitment to peace in the world’s newest nation.
The UNMISS Protection, Reintegration and Transition Section recently organized a training for uniformed personnel from the South Sudan People's Defense Forces (SSPDF), local police, and community members in Yei, Central Equatoria.
