A groundbreaking ceremony has been held to mark the beginning of a major project by Korean engineers serving with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan to repair the main road from Bor to Mangalla in the conflict-affected Jonglei region.

Mary Nyknchol, is the leader of women widows in Akobo and a member of the the 'Akobo Women Association', a group that describe themselves as agents of peace in the war-torn community leading peace talks and workshops. Nyknchol is seen at the ACTED compound where she and the womens group were holding a meeting following a visit on Wednesday by the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) Special Representative to the Secretary-General David Shearer.
