Wau Girls’ School has received a hugely time-saving and much appreciated gift from Bangladeshi peacekeepers serving the United Nations Mission in South Sudan: more than a thousand text books, covering a wide range of subjects.

Peace, increased security and an immediate massive injection of humanitarian assistance is needed to prevent food insecurity reaching unprecedented levels in the conflict-afflicted country of South Sudan.

The United Nations Mission in South Sudan has recalled a unit of police officers from Wau and confined them to base after a preliminary investigation into allegations of sexual exploitation.
