Almost 100 members of the United Kingdom engineering contingent serving with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan have received medals recognizing their commitment and service to the people of the conflict-afflicted country.

Many women in South Sudan carry the burden of raising their families alone.

Their husbands are dead, fighting on the frontlines, or they have simply lost each other during the ongoing conflict. These women have seen and suffered so much violence.

Working together to improve security and build peace in the capital of South Sudan was the primary focus of a meeting held between the Head of the United Nations Mission and the acting Governor of Jubek State.
