Unaisi Bolatolu-Vuniwaqa, a national of Fiji, is the first-ever female Police Commissioner serving the United Nations Mission in South Sudan.
It is a long way from her home on the beautiful Pacific island of Fiji to the conflict-ridden country of South Sudan. But the United Nation’s new Police Commissioner is bringing with her the natural warmth of her people as well as a huge amount of experience to the top job.
"South Sudan peace" was the theme for participants in the UNMISS Art for Peace contest in Juba.

Criminals in Rumbek and surroundings, beware. On Tuesday the United Nation Mission in South Sudan donated a car to the police force in the main town of the Greater Lakes region.

Priests and members of their congregations wept as they prayed for political leaders negotiating in Addis Ababa to compromise and work together for peace.
The pain of the people of South Sudan who have endured five years of civil war was palpable during an inter-faith prayer session at peace talks underway in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Soon inmates of the prison in Cueibet in the Greater Lakes region will have a fence around them, a new ablution unit and two refurbished cells for night-time use.
The United Nations Mission in South Sudan together with the Catholic Diocese of Rumbek have begun the extensive work of turning the prison in Cueibet in the Greater Lakes region into a facility more likely to prevent inmates from escaping.
