Staff members of the UMISS Rumbek field office have donated furniture and stationary to the Cueibet Secondary school.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Tiir David Tiir, the school’s head-master, thanked the UNMISS for the generous contribution. He also appealed to mission to construct a fence for the school.

“You have seen the school has no fence to stop intruders, animals, strangers and homeless. You have also seen we have no enough learning space for students who are have been displaced from Wau, Yei, Juba and Rumbek for one reason or another,” Mr. David stated.

On behalf of the UNMISS staff, CAD officer Gibril Allen Turay, urged Cueibet school authorities and students to use the furniture sustainably.

“Last year when the UNMISS renovated this school on of the challenges shared with us was a lack of furniture. The UNMISS staff both local and international, decided to contribute towards buying these assorted school furniture and stationaries. We urge you to use them for the right purpose” Turay said.

The donation was comprised of 30 wooden class room desks, 10 wooden office tables, 10 wooden office chairs, 4 wooden  book shelves, 20 plastic chairs and mixed stationary materials; including pens, chalk,  rulers and exercise books.
