In an effort to assist people with special need in Malakal, the Humanitarian Development Consortium Organization (HDCO) handed over ingredients for bread making to caretakers in Malakal town and the PoC site.

The project is meant for fifty beneficiaries; thirty within the PoC site and the remainder from Malakal town.  The items provided by the organization were wheat flour, oil, salt, yeast and charcoal.

The Program Officer of the HDCO in the Malakal Field Office, John Diing Yuot, said that the project is a one-time assistance effort, therefore, its continuity will depend on the creativity of the caretakers.

Mr.Yout then pledged the commitment of his organization in supporting people with special needs in order to improve their living conditions.

“This bread making project with the caretakers needs to enhance their ability to cater to the basic needs of the people with disabilities.  Also, the bread will be sold to help generate income for monetary support.” said Yuot

The HDC is working in partnership with the UNHCR.  “UNHCR has extended criteria for identifying persons with special needs, we in the HDC we are implementing the project in partnership with the UNHCR, what we do is to go to the field to identify the venerable people” Said Yout.
