SSNPS learn management skills in Aweil

4 March 2014 - Assisting South Sudanese police to become better leaders, UN Police began a one-month course in management skills today in Aweil, Northern Bahr El-Ghazal State.

“The state police commissioner requested us to deliver training on management,” UN Police State Advisor Taner Ciftci said at the opening. “He said that without proper management, we cannot … achieve anything.”

The course, attended by 15 middle management South Sudan National Police officers, will include planning, decision–making, crisis management, crime management, report writing and other vital skills, Advisor Ciftci said.

State Deputy Police Commissioner Adil Juma Abdurahman Sule commended the UN police for working closely with authorities to build the capacity of personnel, urging colleagues to remain committed to the course.

“If an officer benefits from the course, the soldier under him/her will benefit,” he said. “There is nowhere people can control the work without management. I urge you to attend every day.”
