UN Volunteers donate items to Wau hospital

5 December 2012 - UN Volunteers in Western Bahr El-Ghazal today donated 20 mattresses to the children's ward at Wau Teaching Hospital, as part of activities to celebrate International Volunteer Day.

The volunteers, along with other UNMISS staff, also donated cleaning materials to the hospital and participated in a general cleaning exercise.

"When you volunteer, you are offering a service to humanity" said hospital Director General Dr. James Ukelo.

He commended the UN for continually supporting the hospital, which he said serves all the four states in the Greater Bahr El-Ghazal region.

UNMISS Chinese Medical and Engineering Unit also donated some drugs and sleeping mats.
