UNMISS MONBATT renovates hospital in Bentiu

Four rooms of a ward in the Bentiu hospital have been renovated by UN Peacekeepers and handed over to the community. The health facility that was destroyed during the two year conflict was repaired by the UNMISS Mongolian battalion.

 

The senior government authority in Bentiu, John Juoy Yoach appreciated the peacekeepers efforts. “The Monbatt have done many good projects; it is not the first time them to do a good job like this one. This battalion repaired three of four office in Bentiu hospital, before that they have done a good job when they brought clean water to the hospital”

 

Mr. Yoach added, “there were many projects that have been done by this battalion and before and they have also done a good job by protecting the lives of our people in UNMISS Camp”

The UNMISS Head of Field Office in Bentiu, Hiroko Hirahara, says the renovation was a Quick Impact Project done under the UN Mission in South Sudan.   

 

“We are here gathering in Bentiu Hospital to handover four rooms of the out patients department which had been renovated by Monbatt contingent under the UNMISS quick impact projects. They have done this very well and they care very much about the people they are serving

 

Bentiu hospital Director, Dr. Stephen Puok congratulated the people of Bentiu for having functioning hospital now. He thanked the Mongolian Battalion for the renovated the hospital. “It is now very important because when you are delivering health services to the community they need the health facility to be fixed for them to get good services. So that is why Monbatt has renovated this hospital. They renovated a room for pediatric consultation and the Lab”

Dr. Puok also appealed to all humanitarian partners to continue supporting the people of South Sudan. “I am appealing to all humanitarian agencies and UN to continue with the same spirit and stand firm in supporting the people of South Sudan”
