Juba, 23 April 2015 - The UN Mission in South Sudan deeply regrets the continuation of hostilities in the Upper Nile State capital of Malakal and the resulting displacement of the civilian population.
UNMAS is clearing another contaminated piece of land in Malakal from explosives. Once cleared, the more than 19 million square meters will serve as a new residential and farming ground for successful applicants.
At the UN Protection Site in Malakal, residents have turned challenges into opportunities. Bustling markets and community spaces have replaced previously bare ground.
