During his visit to Bentiu, the Chairperson of the Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Committee (JMEC), Festus Mogae, says he witnessed the suffering of the people caused by the conflict. 

“Cessation of hostilities must take place and all acts of violence must stop including criminal activities because people want peace, security and be able to go back to their home without fearing for their lives.”

Peter Par, an IDP and youth representative in Bentiu PoC made a statement, appealing for a speedy implementation of the peace agreement. “We appeal you to urge all actors to put aside their personal interests so we can move forward with the implementation of the peace agreement.”
