Football peace tournament held in Yambio

The NGO, Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA), held a Peace and HIV/AIDS awareness football tournament in Yambio which included select youth groups and local football talent. The events Chairperson, Mr. Gugamugbia Peter, organized the tournament under the theme: “Youth together tournament for promoting peace and fighting HIV/AIDS.”

“Youth are the most vulnerable in this society, this is why the YWCA decided to organize the tournament. To unite youth, to learn how to live in peace, and also to create awareness on how to fight HIV/AIDS” said Mr. Gugamugbia.

According to Monday David, one of the participants in the tournament, it was a successful event.  “I met new friends, and could see the entire crowd cheering together, showing unity and peace among the citizens in Yambio” he said.

Monday then urged youth in South Sudan to promote sports activities because it brings people together from different ethnicities, despite their tribal differences.
