Flooding in Bor

A view of flooding in the Jonglei State capital Bor during an air reconnaissance flight conducted on 12 September by members of the UNMISS Korean Engineering Company. In recent days the engineers have used excavators and oil pressure cranes to fortify the banks of the Nile River and contain its rising waters. The South Koreans are planning to build dykes and dig water channels in Bor during South Sudan's next dry season to avoid a recurrence of this year's floods that have displaced over 500 families and destroyed many homes and crops.
