Head of field office in Malakal visits various religious premises within the PoC site

In order to understand the dynamics of the Upper Nile social fabric, Malakal Hazel Dewet, Head of Field Office in Malakal, made her first outreach visit to different faith and religious groups within the PoC site.

The two day function covered issues of Mission cooperation with the IDPs in terms of the dissemination of the messages of peace among the inhabitants of the camp, peaceful co-existence among the communities, a proposed peace workshop with the IDP’s.  She called on religious leaders from both the Islamic and Christian faith to exert more effort in the stabilization of peace messages within the site.

“I need you to cooperate with us in all aspects especially in normalization of security situation within the camp so please help me as leaders this is my main message to you” said Ms. Dewet.

The visits concluded by emphasizing the work for peace among all various levels starting with youth, women and religious leaders to ensure tranquility within the camp. Her visits came as part of her plan to build confidence with the IDPs plus changing the adverse perception about the second pillar of the mission mandate, addition to her thoughtful conversation in-depth about that matter.

It is worth mentioning that, she also visited a Mosque, the Seventh Day Adventist church, Catholic, and Presbyterian Churches.
