IWD 2016 in Yambio

The Women’s General Union, in collaboration the UNMISS commemorated the IWD in the form of fasting, marching and prayer to in Freedom Square, in WES Yambio town.

During her remarks, the chairperson for the Women’s General Union, Madam Christine Mbazande, urged the authorities to protect women by providing the safety and security that they deserve and apprehend those criminals causing harms against women; adding that women had undergone a very severe time  in WES during the previous months, to the extent that some of had been maimed, raped and killed.

“Today as we celebrate this day, I would like to stress upon you, the authorities,  to protect us women and provide us with the necessary safety and security that we need, because we had suffered a lot in the previous months in the hands of criminals.”  said, Madam Christine, WGU Chair.

For his part, the Hon. Hussein Enoka, Commissioner of Yambio, assured the women that they have nothing to fear because people in the county in general, including women and children are sleeping soundly these days because of the government’s attention and diligence concerning their security.
   
“My mothers, sisters and fellow women, I would like to assure you that don’t fear anything like what happened those previous days because people these days are sleeping in Yambio town here because this government is working on the security of any one of you here, and soon, Yambio town and the entire WES shall be free from crimes causing insecurity. ” the Hon. H. Enoka said.

Zamoi , the State Governor, indicated that part of his security and safety program had started.  He has deployed a military police battalion in the town to deal with outlaws, and soldiers which are taking the law into their own hands.

“This issue of security and safety in Yambio town is working on it right now here in my office. If you are seeing these days, there are some soldiers who are appearing around with a red caps, these soldiers are here in Yambio for your safety because their jobs is to deal with outlaws soldiers and those who are shooting guns randomly in town.”  Zamoi stated.
