Malakal marks the Day of the African Child 2016

Children in the PoC site in Malakal today celebrated the ‘Day of the African Child’, this years the theme is “Conflict and crisis in Africa: Protecting all Children’s Rights.”

In an exclusive interview recorded live on the mission’s Miraya radio station the children voiced their concerns on the implementation of the Peace Agreement, the return home of families and loved ones and the future of the educational  system in the country.

Children in the KWACHA cultural dancing group in the PoC site articulated their concerns on peace and the crucial need for their rights to be protected to allow them to pursue their schooling and further education.

“ We as children’s in effected states urge the both sides of the conflict to stop violating the peace agreement, we are  tired of doing nothing at PoC site, and we want to go back to Malakal so we can resume our normal lives and education as well ” said, Eman Juma Wan.

Let all children go to school and stop early child marriages.  Give us chance once more in this country as children, which by one way or another have been effected by this senseless war” said, Emmanuel Albino Tipo.
