Chiefs join UNMISS in rallied call for peace at a meeting at UN House, Juba.
Traditional chiefs representing the different ethnic groups in the country have made a rallied call for peace in South Sudan.
“Once tribes are united, peace will prevail,” said Deng Macham, head of the South Sudan Council of Chiefs.

The General Assembly today appointed by acclamation the former Prime Minister of Portugal, António Guterres, as the next United Nations Secretary-General, to succeed Ban Ki-moon when he steps down on 31 December.

Youth are appealing to South Sudan’s leaders to prevail over their forces to prevent further bloodshed.
The call by the National Youth Union comes in the wake of ambushes on passenger vehicles and rising insecurity in parts of the country.

Bishop Paul Yogusuk of the Episcopal Church of Sudan and South Sudan has urged both government and the citizens to shun tribalism and unite as a nation.

The public is being cautioned against using social media to incite violence and hatred.
