17 January 2012 – At least 50 people died and over 30 were injured during an attack against residents of Duk Padiet village in Jonglei State in the late afternoon of 16 January.
5 January 2012 – Upper Nile University reopened its doors today for the first time in nearly a year.
Approximately 5,000 students are expected to register at the university's campuses in Malakal and Renk later this month and lectures are scheduled to begin on 31 January.
29 December 2011 – To boost anti-landmine efforts in South Sudan, the outgoing UNMISS Cambodian Military Demining Platoon today handed over 15 tonnes of explosives and equipment to the UN Mine Action Coordination Centre (UNMACC) in Malakal, Upper Nile State.
22 December 2011 - To improve nutritional standards for inmates in Western Equatoria State, UNMISS and the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) donated farming equipment, including sickles and hoes, to inmates in the state prison today.
