South Sudan joins the global community in celebrating World Press Freedom Day on 3 May under the theme "Safe to speak: Securing Freedom of Expression in All Media".

27 April 2013 - Seeking to improve their journalistic skills, reporters and editors from Radio Jonglei attended a training workshop organized by UNMISS in Bor today. In addition to writing and grammar exercises, journalists discussed the importance of their work in South Sudanese development.
South Sudan joined the global community in commemorating World Malaria Day on 25 April under the theme, "Invest in the future: Defeat Malaria". According to the World Health Organization, UNICEF and other partners fighting the disease, malaria accounts for two in every 10 deaths in the country.
