UNMAS director inaugurates new mine action projects

UN Mine Action Service (UNMAS) Director Agnes Marcaillou cutting a ribbon to inaugurate an armoury in Juba on 19 September. UNMAS, in partnership with the Mines Advisory Group, refurbished the armoury at the Central Equatoria Police Headquarters as one of several new projects aimed at boosting the safety and security of the South Sudanese people. Over the next 12 months UNMAS, with support from UN Police, will train South Sudan National Police Service (SSNPS) officers to safely dispose of conventional munitions and to form a sustainable and readily deployable mine action capacity within the SSNPS.
