World Press Freedom Day

South Sudan joins the global community in celebrating World Press Freedom Day on 3 May under the theme "Safe to speak: Securing Freedom of Expression in All Media". Over the past decade, more than 600 journalists have been killed – at least 120 in the past year alone – and hundreds more have been detained while carrying out their work. Photo: UNMISS/Isaac Billy.
