19 November 2013 - Recent events had provided South Sudan with new opportunities, despite grave concerns about security in Jonglei State, UN chief Ban Ki-moon said in his most recent report on the country.

South Sudan joins the international community on 19 November in marking World Toilet Day, which aims to change behaviour on issues ranging from water management to open air defecation. Of the world’s seven billion people, only 4.5 billion have access to toilets or latrines.

14 November 2013 - The South Sudanese government and aid agencies launched the humanitarian appeal for 2014-2016 today, seeking $1.1 billion to meet the needs of the most vulnerable.
