Thousands of citizens in Yambio county converged to Yambio Freedom Square over the weekend to witness a football match between girls and government officials which was organized by the county authority with the aim to promote peace in the county.

The protection of civilian’s is paramount in the UNMISS mandate. The Mission’s RRP section in Malakal held a three day workshop funded by the UNMISS in collaboration with the Humanitarian Development Consortium (HDC) in the UNHCR conference hall in Malakal Log base.

UNESCO and UNMISS marked the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace by organizing a colorful and vibrant afternoon of sports at the Juba Basketball Stadium. An estimated 2,000 people thoroughly enjoyed the commemorations.
